
Jessica Posada
Children’s Choir Director
Jessica Posada, soprano, is a native of Puebla, Mexico. Last fall, Jessica began pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance with a related field in Vocal Pedagogy at the University of North Texas (UNT). During her first semester at UNT Jessica was a finalist for the prestigious Concerto Aria Competition with the UNT Symphony Orchestra. Jessica has studied voice under Dr. Daniel Hunter- Holly (UTB) and Dr. Rebecca Wascoe-Hays (TTU). She currently studies voice with Professor Richard Croft and vocal pedagogy under the guidance of Dr. Stephen Austin.
She began her musical studies at the prestigious Conservatorio de Música del Estado de Puebla in voice and piano. Upon high school graduation, she was awarded a full scholarship to pursue a Bachelor of Music Education degree at the University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB). During her time at UTB, Jessica was an active competitor at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) winning first (2011) and second prizes (2012) in the junior and senior divisions, respectively, as well as the “Waldman Award” for best interpretation of Spanish song. As an educator, Jessica has ten years of teaching experience and is certified to teach music at all-levels. Though her area of specialization is teaching voice, she has also instructed piano students, directed children’s choruses, and introduced music to preschoolers. Jessica was also a theatre/voice teaching assistant at Texas Tech University and has also worked for Brownsville ISD as the head choir director at Perkins MS (2013) and assistant choir director at Stell MS (2016). Jessica holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Texas at Brownsville and a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from Texas Tech University.
